The Rundown: A young man wakes up to a mystery in his small town.

Jonathan wakes up on an early Sunday and discovers that not only is his door open, but his cat is missing. After hearing from a friend, he heads to church, but there are some strange rumors spreading around town about cattle mutilations and a possible wild animal on the loose.
As he goes through his normal routine of both church and work, Jonathan meets up with an old friend from school and the girl he likes to discuss the strange events happening in the town before heading home to crash for the night.
The Story: Cannon has the makings of an interesting story and world in this first issue. The character is interesting and the mystery grabbed my attention. There is some great atmosphere in the story, but sometimes that atmosphere takes over and fails to solidify into something compelling. The first issue does a really good job of setting the stage and introducing the characters, but it struggles with giving the reader something to hold onto other than surface curiosity.
The Art: Cannon delivers some beautiful and deceptively simple art throughout the issue. I like the visuals style a lot and there are some great visual teases throughout the issue.
